April 2014

May 14, 2014

Ok so summer is officially over. Well fine. Who needs balmy days and long evenings when we’ve got….er…..mud and……um rain……and stuff. Ok that’s May but we are dealing with April so…..

What a fabulous month.  I just love a month with loads of holidays….especially ones I get paid for.

April didn’t seem very busy but I managed to do lots in short bursts.  The weekend before Easter, Roz (BFF from Cairns) and Charlie (her daughter) paid a visit for the weekend which was awesome.  We went to the zoo and the mall and the museum (Adelaide Museum has only managed to cement my loathing of those places) and the movies (Noah) and then we had a sleep and the next day we went to Glenelg and the Whispering Wall (haven’t been there since I was in primary school) and being that close to the Barossa we had to partake of a couple of wineries (much to Charlie’s chagrin). Then I went to work to have a rest. It was such a good weekend and brilliant to catch up.

Easter was relatively quiet….especially after the action packed weekend prior but I did manage to do lots of reading, watched quite a few DVD’s, went to Anne’s for dinner and scrabble, have Kay, David, John and Mary over for dinner and catch up with Mum and Dad after their trip to Singapore.

I was umming and ahhing about dragging my sorry butt out of bed to get to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service but seeing as it’s at such a civilised hour in Adelaide (6.15am) as opposed to Brisbane’s (4am) I decided I’d manage it.  It was a fairly short sharp service and it was nice standing in the middle of North Terrace amongst thousands of people with the sun slowly rising, although I did find the Brisbane service last year much more moving.  Maybe it had something to do with being held in the dark and the governor did give a very poignant speech.

After the service I sponged breakfast at Mum and Dad’s and then took them up to Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens (which I didn’t know existed until a couple of weeks ago).  Not having seen autumn for the best part of 21 years it’s quite a novelty and exceptionally beautiful.  It seemed like everyone else thought the gardens would be a good idea on ANZAC Day too so we didn’t stay long.  Had a very nice lunch in Mt Barker and then headed back off the highway going through the hills towns.  I got to do lots of u-turns, reversing and turn up random roads all in the name of pretty trees and I did manage to get some really nice shots…..check them out on the website.  The rest of the weekend was exceptionally relaxing.

The movie reviews for this month are:

Noah – well it was long. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either.

Divergent – I really like it, which was kinda surprising. I’d happily see it again….having some fairly serious eye candy didn’t hurt either.

Until next month……….Never loose your sense of wonder.

Haven’t seen Noah as yet – I figured it would be long… and I’d neither hate it nor love it! 😉

Always wondered what BFF meant. Best F*ckin’ Friends is my best guess…
